It seems that the Government really does not care whether or not we are all raped or murdered in our beds:
Twenty-five Britons convicted of rapes abroad may have been cleared to work with children and other vulnerable people because of a Home Office blunder, it emerged today. … More than 27,500 case files - including those for paedophiles and murderers - may have slipped through the net before the situation was rectified last May, according to the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo). (From the Telegraph)
Hilarious, if it weren’t so terrifying.

‘Terrifying’ is the word. ‘Unforgivable’ is an even better word.

As a mother of a young-ish child these stories make me physically ill. I sometimes take my son and his young friends out and you see men sometimes looking ‘in an untoward fashion’ . Some at the boys, some at the girls - and it strikes terror in your heart. And no one seems to care, I do despair.

Put it this way. It’s lucky I don’t meet many Labour apologists face-to-face.

It amazes me that the Government - whose raison d’etre is to protect us - can so consistently fail us. Not only do we not have enough prisons, but we do not even seem to have locks on the doors of these prisons; we don’t have enough police; we don’t have a large enough army for our ‘defensive’ escapades in Iraq and Afghanistan - and yet all the while, the Government, which perpetually fails to provide us with security, expects us to accept higher taxes, more legislation, more red-tape, more nonsense, and more crime.
Absolutely absurd.
We need a new Leviathan - and soon.
