Social and political commentary from a conservative perspective

Boris Johnson and Portsmouth

Boris Johnson has described Portsmouth as “too full of drugs, obesity, underachievement and Labour MPs.’’

There is anger in the town.

But why? He is right, after all. The only thing Portsmouth has to complain about is that this description applies to many towns in the UK anyway, so why single them out?

    Hi newmania,

I decided to remove it as it was getting way too emotive. I feel bad about withdrawing it, as I have never ever withdrawn anything before; I like to stand by what I write. However, things started getting out of hand, and I wanted to prevent abuse flying all over the place. Perhaps I should just have locked the comments, but maybe it is better this way.

I hope some day to revisit the argument. I recognise that that topic is a sensitive one, but I think it is worthy of discussion. Maybe another day.

Emailed you, by the way. :)

Boris Johnson is too good for the Conservative Party.

Perhaps he could handle our negotiations with Iran…
