Social and political commentary from a conservative perspective

The two British girls arrested in Ghana on suspicion of drug smuggling insist that they were set up. Says one of them:

There were basically two boys over here who gave us two bags, and told us to bring it (that) it was an empty bag.

We never thought anything bad was inside … and they told us to go to the UK and drop it off to some boy … at the airport.

The two boys gave us bags in Ghana to bring to London, to give to the boy in London.

It was basically like a set up. They didn’t tell us nothing, we didn’t think nothing, cos basically we are innocent.

We don’t know nothing about this drugs and stuff, we don’t know nothing.

I am trying not to be cynical. Are they really that naive? I know that they are both only 16 years of age, but I find it surprising that these young girls could be duped so easily.

It says in the Sky News report that cocaine weighing 6.5kg was found in the bags. Did they not wonder why the bags were that heavy, or indeed, what was inside the bags?

Wasn’t there a film about this some years ago - only it happened in Thailand?

I don’t know but you would have to be as thick as a tree not to think something was dodgy about that situation. Either way it’s too bad.

sorry, but little or no sympathy for these two idiots. Like kids don’t know where drugs come from! Like these girls didn’t know what the bags were for!

    Pffftt!

What makes me laugh is that they are getting no tea and sympathy from the Ghanaian government. I don’t suppose they have PACE or scuzzy solicitors there to moan and wail about “human rights abuses”.

Sorry, but it’s about time my little Islington school-kid friends see that there are real consequences for criminal behaviour- and no one give a damn about their excuses.

  4. kris Says:

Oh yeah, the old, “I don’t know nothing” defence! Excellent. Well girls, what exactly were you doing in Ghana? Seeing grandma? Do me a favour.

  5. Colin Campbell Says:

I understand Ghana has some interesting cultural markets and beautiful scenery.

I notice there is no mention of their background.

They seem to be quoting early Matt Lucas; perhaps they are highly educated?

  7. Wolfie Says:

Best out of the gene-pool really, and best out of the UK where I’m sure they’d only end up as “brides of the state”. Good riddance.

  8. Bel Says:

‘Brides of the State’ …. :)

    I like that!
