Just realised that I haven’t seen or heard much from David Davis during this period of Cameron’s woes. It would be good to see a few such Conservative politicians of substance from time to time. Kenneth Clarke was on the television during the Northern Rock saga earlier in the week, and just listening to him reminded me that the Conservative Party still has some very experienced and knowledgeable politicians. It’s a pity we don’t see more of them these days.

Suprised you like that old lefty Clarke Bel. Returning to my previous theme I have just read this from John Gray in the New Statesman.
“it could end up like a failed state( The Conservative Party) a rabble of rival factions each claiming to embody true Conservatism at a time when such a thing is no longer imaginable.
The stakes could hardly be higher. The upshot of the next general election could be meltdown in the Conservative Party and along period of unchallenged power for Gordon Brown”
How much of what you value about this country will be left after that ? Time to stop helping the enemy perhaps ?

Helping the enemy? Hardly. Seriously, that charge should be levelled at Cameron and his merry men.

I’m not a Tory as you know, Bel, but I would always listen with respect to Ken Clarke.
